Lowry Park Zoo

Lowry Park Zoo

The history of Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo can be traced back to the 1930’s when it was just  a small collection of exotic animals on the grounds of the University of Tampa.

The nonprofit zoo consists of 56-acres of attractions, rides and more than 1,700 animals.

Tampa’s Lowry Park consists of seven main exhibit areas:

  • Asian Gardens
  • Primate World
  • Free-Flight Aviaries
  • Florida Boardwalk
  • Florida Manatee and Aquatic Center
  • Wallaroo Station children’s zoo
  • Safari Africa

The zoo features a larger collection of Florida species than any other zoo and offers several hands-on exhibits which include stingray feeding, Lorikeet feeding, an interactive discovery center, camel rides, a petting area, a river encounter as well as a West Indian Manatee encounter.  Visitors will also have the opportunity to get up-close and learn about the animals through shows, classes and camps.

Lowry Park has several exciting rides for all ages and can be found throughout the park such as carousels, coasters, animal rides and a guided Safari ride.
