David A. Straz Center For The Performing Arts

The David A. Straz Center for the Performing Arts is located on approximately 9 acres along the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa- making it the second largest performing arts complex in the Southeastern United States. The Straz Center is composed of 5 distinct theaters, as well as, a rehearsal hall, retail stores, and restaurants.
These 5 theaters are listed below:
- Carol Morsani Hall (2,600+ seats)
- Ferguson Hall (1,042 seats)
- Jaeb Theater (292 seats)
- TECO Energy Foundation Theater (250 seats)
- Shimberg Playhouse (130 seats).
When the complex first opened its doors in July 1987, it was called the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center but was changed to its current name in November of 2009 to honor David Straz’s generous donation.
Over the years, the Staz Center has truly become a cornerstone of the Tampa Bay community and creates a regional economic impact of more than $100 million each year.
To the local Tampa economy, the complex means more tourists staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, shopping in stores and visiting other venues. The Straz Center also creates more jobs for artists and other professionals in the Tampa Bay area.
