In its first year, Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation aggressively proclaimed to the region and well beyond that Tampa is “Open for Business”. In selling Hillsborough County and its cities of Tampa, Plant City and Temple Terrace, we aim to build on this momentum during year two.
On January 6, the Executive Committee, under the new leadership of Chair Gordon Gillette, President of Tampa Electric & Peoples Gas, named Rick Homans as President & CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough EDC. Rick comes to Tampa from a stellar economic development record in New Mexico, and teams up with Executive Vice President Keith Norden to move the EDC to an exciting new level.
Among Rick’s first initiatives were reorganization of departments and a bottom-up review of budget. In his first week, Rick met with many of the town’s leaders, and is on the road with Chair Gordon Gillette in Tallahassee to meet with Enterprise Florida stakeholders before hosting top national site selection consultants for a Gasparilla weekend!
